Design it Clean
In this project we chose a place in the world that has water problems and had to make a filter that could solve the problem by filtering out the bacteria or whatever was contaminated the water. My group picked Canada and our job was to filter out E-coli. Here is our Area and Project Description document. https://docs.google.com/a/animashighschool.com/document/d/13A3UDk7xy2hgIeO3CcztT0nFkj2FpWIoLw6vayMz8fY/edit
Snow Science Project
Snow science was relevant to my life because I ski in the winter. This project will help me identify trigger points for avalanches if I'm back country skiing and I will know why there is a lot more/less snow than previous years. I now understand that snow and water play an extremely important role in the west mostly because it's so dry. The Colorado river doesn't even reach Mexico anymore because large cities in the west have sucked up so much of it for watering lawns, golf courses, and other things like that.
A major skill I learned was synthesizing and applying knowledge. I wanted to go deeper on some of the subjects we learned in class to incorporate in my poster so I had to go research them on my own and then apply it to my project. I really enjoyed working on the poster because I got to understand things that I didn't at first, and I got to go deeper and learn more about the material. One thing I didn't enjoy was learning about the material in class. I would have been more engaged if we had learned through going out into the field but fortunately there wasn't enough snow for that.
